Volvo Compact Assist Start Provides Entry-Level Intelligent Compaction
Volvo Construction Equipment recently introduced Compact Assist Start to serve as an introductory package for the company’s Intelligent Compaction system. The entry-level tech tool includes pass-mapping and temperature-mapping functionalities, providing the operator with real-time data about how the job is progressing. Compact Assist Start is available on Volvo DD110C, DD120C, DD128C and DD140C asphalt compactors.
A Solid First Step
Compact Assist Start provides access to the core intelligent functions of Volvo’s asphalt compactors. The pass-mapping capability gives operators an on-screen view of the roller’s coverage of the asphalt, highlighting stop points and overlaps so adjustments can be made without missing a spot. Temperature mapping ensures compaction is completed at the optimum pavement temperature. Operators can review a color-coded map of surface temperatures and set the maximum/minimum range to avoid rolling with a mix temperature that is too hot or too cold.
Advanced Compact Assist
Compact Assist Start comes with all of the wiring and most of the needed hardware to simplify the upgrade process to more comprehensive Compact Assist package. The next step up is Compact Assist, which Volvo says is ideal for customers who need to record and track data across a jobsite. A high-accuracy GPS antenna records and saves job data to automate job report creation with USB and over-the-air download. Compact Assist with Direct Density is the top-level package and combines all the features of Compact Assist with the addition of density-mapping functions.
