Wirtgen Group To Present Surface Miners & Kleemann Crushing & Screening Plants At MINExpo 2021
The Wirtgen Group, which includes leading mining equipment brands Wirtgen and Kleemann, will be at MINExpo 2021 from September 13 to 15 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Wirtgen 220 SM(i) surface miner is one of several surface miners being showcased; MINExpo represents the machine’s North American debut. In addition to the 220 SM(i) and other surface miners, the Wirtgen Group is promoting crushing and screening plants from Kleemann, such as its MOBISCREEN MS EVO screening plants.
More On The 220 SM(i)
The 220 SM(i) can offload extracted minerals in windrows or load them directly onto transport vehicles. It features a cutting width of 7 feet, 3 inches (2.2 meters) and cuts down to nearly a foot (11.8 in., 300 millimeters), capabilities which Wirtgen says make the surface miner a good choice for selective extraction of minerals, routing operations, and infrastructure projects. For operator comfort, Wirtgen provides a ROPS/FOPS soundproof cabin that’s isolated from vibrations and equipped with heating and air conditioning.
Model Previews
The Wirtgen Group also plans to preview the successor to the 2500 SM, the 280 SM(i), at MINExpo. Details are still light, but the 280 SM(i) is said to feature a slewable operator’s cabin and is scheduled to be available in early 2022. Wirtgen is also adding a few new models to its surface miner lineup, including the 260 SX(i) that’s expected to support large-scale infrastructure projects, such as enlargement of tunnels, freeways and highways, and railroad construction.
