John Deere Announces 18- To 30-Inch E-Series Cold Planer Attachments
John Deere has introduced a trio of new cold planer attachments with in-cab controls for milling depth, tilt, and side shift. The 18-inch (455-millimeter) wide CP18E, 24-inch (610-mm) CP24E, and 30-inch (760-mm) CP30E are compatible with Deere’s track and wheel skid steer loaders as well as other brands. The manufacturer recommends them for leveling and texturing pavement as well as street repairs. They’re also ideal for policing up areas around utility panels and manhole covers that self-propelled cold planers leave unmilled.
“The E-Series cold planers are new solutions for our customers seeking more efficiency on the job by enabling all cold planer functions to be controlled from within the machine’s cab,” said John Deere’s program manager for global attachments Jessica Hill. “The attachments deliver value to our customers through increased productivity and uptime, while maintaining low daily operating costs.”
Productivity-Boosting Features
The three new E-Series attachments require a hydraulic flow of 29 to 41 gallons per minute (109 to 155 liters per minute). The CP18E, CP24E, and CP30E weigh 2,200, 2,400, and 2,600 pounds (1,000, 1,090, and 1,180 kilograms), respectively. They support Deere’s self-cleaning Quik-Tatch mounting system.
The E-Series milling attachments have a high-torque planetary drive/wheel drive system. Their gearbox has a simple drain-and-refill plug, requiring only a funnel to top up during maintenance. The operator can remove the side plate to fit into close quarters or to get up next to curbs. The cold planers’ rear spoil clearance can be as much as 9 inches (229 mm) to reduce the amount of milled material recycled back into the cut.
Deere made the planers’ case pressure reservoir a visual indicator of overly high hydraulic pressure. The reservoir will fill with oil if the pressure exceeds guidelines, notifying the operator to shut the attachment down for maintenance.
