Vögele Prepares For World Premiere Of Dash 5 Asphalt Pavers, Extending Screeds At bauma Show In Germany
The new Dash 5 asphalt pavers and screeds from Vögele will debut at the bauma 2022 trade show in Munich, Germany, from October 24 to 30. Having introduced the Dash 3 series in 2013, the manufacturer has skipped the number 4 and went straight into the Dash 5 branding for the new generation of roadmaking machinery.
Vögele’s new Dash 5 equipment includes the Super 1900-5(i) and Super 2100-5(i) Highway Class pavers and AB 500 and AB 600 extending screeds. The company says it developed the new roadmaking machinery with a focus on profitability, sustainability, user experience, and process automation. Simple handling, operating convenience, and safety also factor into the new Dash 5 line.
Fuel Savings
Details are scarce at this writing, but Vögele says that its Dash 5 models have modular systems and flexible operation. The pavers achieve fuel savings through a number of means; when the paver sits idle, for instance, a switchable pump splitter gearbox shuts down hydraulic pumps for travel, conveying, and compaction. A bypass circuit brings the hydraulic oil to the proper operating temperature more rapidly. A variable-displacement pump supplies only as much oil as the tamper requires at a given speed. Finally, the paver now sets its fan speed according to all fluids moving through the radiator.
Productivity Improvements
Among the Dash 5 units’ profitability enhancements are shorter setup and shutdown times, improved logistics, and greater machine availability, Vögele says. On the sustainability front, an improved EcoPlus package curbs emissions better than ever. The pavers’ reduced fuel consumption mitigates emissions and noise, as well.
Part of the Dash 5 user experience stems from the machines’ ErgoPlus5 operating concept, which Vögele says should feel familiar to users of the ErgoPlus 3 system on current models. The company also made improvements to the ergonomics and safety of the new generation of pavers and screeds.
Vögele has invested in the process automation of the Dash 5 models by optimising their assistance and control systems. Said systems can prevent errors, improve efficiency, and enhance paving quality, according to the company.
The manufacturer says its AutoSet Plus feature will carry over from the previous-generation machines. AutoSet Plus allows the operator to push a button to shift a Dash 5 paver into transport mode and return to paving mode after relocating to another part of the site. AutoSet Plus can also save paving program settings for the next operator or for a similar job later on.
