Wirtgen Recommends W 100 F(i) To W 130 F(i) Milling Machines’ Comfort Cabin Option

Wirtgen has renewed its efforts to highlight the recently developed comfort cabin available for its F-Series W 100 F(i) to W 130 F(i) compact milling machines. The upgraded, enclosed cab has ergonomically designed controls and a bevy of features to promote the operator’s comfort. The combined effect reduces distracting factors that can negatively impact concentration, safety, and productivity.

A member of the Wirtgen Group of roadbuilding equipment companies, Wirtgen introduced redesigned editions of the W 100 to W 130 range of cold planers in early 2022 with a focus on efficiency and environmental compatibility.

Air Quality & Climate Control

The new comfort cabin option for the W 100 F(i) to W 130 F(i) isolates the operator not only from the weather, but also from the noise of the milling drum and diesel engine. The relatively quiet oasis of the cab allows for easier conversation through a hands-free phone connection or a radio headset. In addition, the side window can be opened as needed, allowing the operator to speak directly with coworkers outside the machine.

An automated air conditioning and heating system regulates the temperature inside the cab, removing one more thing on the operator’s to-do list. Positive pressurization works to keep dirt and dust from entering the operator’s station, while a cabin air filter removes most particulates, pollen, and other potential irritants. A clean working environment has been shown to reduce stress and fatigue, which allows the user to focus on working safely and efficiently.

The new cabin also has a lock to protect the machine and its contents from theft and vandalism. This does away with the need to fold up control panels and install protective covers at the end of the work day as with an open operator’s station.

Wirtgen’s F Series Compact Milling Machines

The compact W 100 F(i) to W 130 F(i) models in Wirtgen’s F Series of cold planers share a 345-horsepower (257-kilowatt) diesel engine. Each can mill away asphalt to a depth of up to 13 inches (330 millimeters). The milling width for the compact models is 3.25 to 4.25 feet (1 to 1.3 meters). The machines’ operating weights range from 46,077 to 49,163 pounds (20,900 to 22,300 kilograms).
