    About Road Wideners

It used to take multiple trips for a road construction crew to widen a road. They made one trip to dump material, then often two passes to grade, and another to sweep. Multi-function wideners are able to do all of that in a single pass. Material is dumped directly from the truck into the widener’s hopper, where a hydraulically driven belt delivers material.

A strike-off tool levels the material to the necessary grade and slope without leaving excess material through controlled release. Most models can add 1 to 14 feet of material with a working depth of 12 inches above and below grade.

    Common Uses For Road Wideners

Road wideners are used to create additional lanes on existing roads and add or widen shoulders during construction projects. They can place aggregate material such as dirt, gravel, and asphalt for shoulders, lane additions, service roads, and bike paths; fill trenches; and place aggregate for back filling during utility work.
