Read More (About BOMAG)Founded in 1957, BOMAG (Bopparder Maschinenbau-Gesellschaft mbH) is a leading manufacturer of asphalt rollers, pavers, feeders, compactors, cold planers, and recyclers/stabilizers based in Boppard, Germany. The company’s initial claim to fame was producing the first double vibratory roller that featured an all-drum drive; within just 13 years, BOMAG was the number-one vibratory roller provider worldwide.
From 1961 on, BOMAG expanded from Germany to Austria, Great Britain, Japan, and Canada in the 60s; to the United States and France in the 70s; and to Italy, China, Poland, and Russia in the 2000s. After several acquisitions, including American companies KOEHRING and SPX Corporation, BOMAG eventually landed with the Fayat Group in 2005. The Fayat Group is also the parent company of Dynapac, a Swedish manufacturer of compaction and paving equipment.
Some of BOMAG’s most popular track and wheel asphalt pavers come from the BF 300 city paver and BF 800 highway paver product families. The BF 300 C-2, for example, features a 75-horsepower (55-kilowatt) Tier 4 Final Kubota engine that gives it a maximum travel speed of 3.2 miles per hour (5.1 kilometers per hour) and max working speed of 66 feet per minute (20 meters per minute). It weighs 19,400 pounds (8,800 kilograms) and has a hopper capacity of 10 tons (9 metric tons). It also has fuel and hydraulic oil capacities of 25 and 21 gallons (95 and 80 liters), respectively.
Another popular BOMAG machine is the BM 1300/30 heavy cold planer, which is powered by a Tier 4 Final Cat C7.1 ACERT engine that produces 275 hp (205 kW) and 927 pounds-foot (1,257 newton-meters) of torque. It has a fuel capacity of 118.9 gal (450 l), water capacity of 333.2 gal (1,257.5 l), and AdBlue capacity of 10.6 gal (40 l). The BM 1300/30 has a maximum operating weight of 105,295 lbs (47,761 kg) and features a load system with a theoretical capacity of 222.3 cubic yards per hour (170 cubic meters per hour). It also has a transport speed of up to 3.7 mph (6 km/h) and a maximum operating speed of 90 fpm (27.4 m/min).
One older example of an asphalt recycler/soil stabilizer from BOMAG is the all-wheel-drive MPH-122-2. It weighs 48,722 lbs (22,100 kg) and is powered by a Tier 3 Deutz engine that produces 482 hp (359 kW) and 1,535 lbf-ft (2,081 N-m) of torque. The hydrostatic drive rotor features 206 cutting teeth and has a maximum working speed of 211 fpm (64.3 m/min) and a max cutting depth of 19.7 inches (500 millimeters). The MPH-122-2 has a fuel capacity of 198 gal (750 l), engine oil capacity of 8.7 gal (33 l), and hydraulic fluid capacity of 75 gal (284 l).
PavingEquipment.com has a large selection of new and used asphalt pavers, cold planers, and soil stabilizers / recyclers for sale.
