Etnyre sells a wide range of paving equipment, including asphalt distributors, cargo tanks, storage tanks, and more. Popular models include the Black-Topper Centennial truck-mounted asphalt distributor and the ChipSpreader series of aggregate sealers.
Read More (About Etnyre)Edward D. Etnyre demonstrated a knack for inventing useful equipment in 1895 when he built an automatic hog waterer for use on his farm. This successful project led to the founding of E. D. Etnyre & Co. in 1898, which got its start building horse and cattle water tanks. In 1910, Etnyre and sons established a separate automobile company that would produce 10 cars over the next year, but Etnyre’s real calling became apparent that same year when the company developed the Road Oiler, a machine that could pour asphalt, oil, or tar evenly over roads. This machine was the precursor today’s Etnyre asphalt distributors; it featured a wheel-driven pump and spray bar.
Next came the Street Flusher and Bituminous Distributor in 1921, the first positive pressure spray bar in 1931, and asphalt tanks in 1940. The company also introduced a new height control feature for spray bars in 1959, the Hydrostatic Distributor in 1962, and the self-propelled ChipSpreader for sealing in 1963.
From 1965 to 1968, the company made a series of acquisitions to expand its product range, including Oklahoma City-based Wylie Manufacturing and the Trac-Machinery Corporation of Nunda, New York. This added hot mix asphalt plants, truck-mounted patch units, asphalt and contour pavers, and scarifying machines.
Etnyre then introduced the first distributor that could automatically adjust its pump rate in 1984, hydrostatically-propelled and four-wheel-drive versions of the ChipSpreader in 1987, and computerized controls for asphalt distributors in 1988. The company then acquired Hyster’s lowboy trailer business in 1989 and launched the Blackhawk line of lowboys trailers in 1995.
From 1996 on, Etnyre continues to expand its product offerings, introducing live-bottom trailers, new towable asphalt tanks and distributors, the BIG ChipSpreader, and a new design for its crude oil tanks the company says it designed for “optimal load distribution and fast, complete drainage.”
Today, Etnyre sells Black-Topper Centennial truck-mounted asphalt distributors, Blackhawk lowboy trailers specifically designed for paver transport, large cargo tanks, Falcon live-bottom trailers, flushers and sprinklers, maintenance distributors, standing liquid asphalt storage tanks, and other asphalt equipment, including ChipSpreaders.
Although some specifications will vary because Etnyre builds all of its Black-Topper Centennial units to order, most models have tank capacities of between 2,000 and 3,500 gallons (7,570 and 13,250 liters). They come standard with 20-inch (51-centimeter) diameter manholes, a ball-style tank gauge that calibrates in 50-gal (189-l) increments, and thermometers for maintaining proper asphalt temperature. Other standard features include a 12-foot (3.6-meter) spray bar, 25-ft (7.62-m) hose with cold hand sprayer, a 400 gallon-per-minute (1,514 liter-per-minute) asphalt pump, and a 52-gal (197-l) propane tank.
Again, Etnyre offers highly customized Centennial asphalt distributors, which means there are options galore. Examples include an 18-ft (5.5-m) variable-width spray bar and extensions for widths of up to 24 ft (7.3-m), a 20-in manhole strainer, several heating system configurations, and 12-ft steel or rubber fill hoses that can handle temperatures of up to 450 and 350 degrees, respectively.
The ChipSpreader is a hydrostatically-driven machine with a 260-horsepower (194-kilowatt) Cummins QSB turbocharged diesel engine and front and rear axles rated at 25,000 pounds (11,340 kilograms). Other standard features include two 24-in (60-cm) conveyors, a 10-ft (3-m) spreader, LED lights, an electric backup alarm, an engine warning system for low oil or water, and a vandalism protection package.
Options include a fixed hopper ranging from 11 to 14 ft (3.4 to 4.3 m) wide; there are also variable hoppers available in four configurations, starting with an adjustable width of from 9 ft (2.7 m) and 18 ft and growing in size to the top-end model, which has an adjustable width of between 12 and 24 ft. Etnyre offers a four-wheel-drive version of the ChipSpreader as well as a model with the BIG package, which ups the engine to 280 hp (209 kW) and adds 30-in (76-cm) conveyors and larger-capacity hoppers in the front and rear.
PavingEquipment.com has a large selection of new and used Etnyre machines for sale, including Black-Topper Centennial truck-mounted asphalt distributors and ChipSpreaders.
