RentStationary asphalt distributors lay down a seal coat to strengthen paved surfaces and are often skid-mounted, making it easier to load them onto trucks.
Read More (About Stationary Asphalt Distributors)Asphalt distributors perform the crucial task of laying a seal coat that acts as a glue to hold existing and new pavement layers together, strengthening the surface and protecting it from damage in the process. It is important to regularly seal coat heavily trafficked areas as well as uncovered paved surfaces that are in direct sunlight for most of the day or that are generally unprotected from rain, snow, and other elements that can crack the asphalt. The goal is to seal off cracks and holes now so you don’t have to completely replace large chunks of asphalt later.
There are three common types of asphalt distributors: stationary, truck-mounted, and towable (or trailer-mounted). In general, these machines typically consist of a heated and insulated cylindrical tank that maintains the temperature of the asphalt throughout the application process. They also often have circulation systems designed to prevent the asphalt from cooling at the edges. Depending on the size of the unit and its intended use, a stationary model may come with a hand sprayer or wand that allows workers to lay down the seal coat manually, or a truck-mounted spray bar that lays down an even coat of material on each pass. Most spray bars are adjustable so you can adjust the spray width as needed.
Stationary asphalt distributors lack wheels, but most of them are skid-mounted, which makes it easy to load them onto a service truck, utility truck, or other vehicle and then unload them after use. Although this makes them inherently less portable, it does eliminate the need for a dedicated asphalt distributor truck. The same goes for towable models, which can be decoupled when not in use to free up the truck for other jobs. Truck-mounted units are a more permanent solution and are ideal for dedicated road construction and asphalt laying companies that frequently need to apply seal coats.
