    About Wheel Concrete Buggies

Wheel concrete buggies are one of two primary types of concrete buggies (track concrete buggies being the other) that paving companies and other operations use to transport concrete around jobsites. Concrete buggies are essentially engine-powered wheelbarrows; wheel models are available with two-wheel and all-wheel-drive systems and gas and battery-electric motors ranging from less than 5 to more than 20 horsepower. Operators guide concrete buggies from behind using handlebars, a steering wheel, or joystick controls. General construction, landscaping, demolition, and other operations also use concrete buggies to transport soil, sand, gravel, mulch, debris, and other materials.

    Wheel Concrete Buggy Features

Multiquip TuffTruk TB11E Walk-Behind Power Buggy

Depending on the model, wheel concrete buggies may use rubber, pneumatic, foam-filled, or steel wheels to move at speeds reaching 7 mph or more. Although track-equipped models are generally better for unstable ground conditions with soft soil, sand, mud, or inclines requiring additional traction, wheel concrete buggies are usually less expensive, faster, and easier to navigate in tight or confined spaces. The concrete buggy market includes walk-behind and ride-on models, as well as many buggies that instead include a foldable or fixed perforated platform on the back for the operator to stand on. Wheel models typically include a heavy-duty steel or polyurethane bucket with 6-cubic-yard or greater capacity that lets them carry several thousand pounds.

Many concrete buggies are designed for indoor and outdoor use, and a number are narrow enough to fit through a 36-inch doorway, making them useful for interior pours. Some also have articulated bodies and rotating buckets that enable more exact material placement. Features can also include hand or foot levers for easy bucket dumping, hydrostatic drives, enclosed engines, easy access repair and maintenance doors, hand brakes, work lights, and support for various attachments.
