Dynapac recently introduced a new 8-ton (7.25-metric-ton) tandem asphalt roller at the ConExpo-Con/Agg convention in Las Vegas. The CC2200 VI is part of a new series of 8- to 10-ton (9.1-mt) smooth-drum compactors culminating in the CC3800 VI top model. Drum widths for the roller family range from 59 to 66 inches (1,500 to 1,680 millimeters), with split-drum and combination versions available.

The manufacturer says the CC2200 VI’s new features provide optimal paving results, efficient operation, and comfort for the operator. Dynapac plans to start serial production at the end of 2023.

    High Visibility

The new CC2200 VI is available with an operator’s platform and a rollover protection system (ROPS) or with a ROPS cabin. Inside is a 7-in. touchscreen and a new operator interface. The seat and steering module can rotate 90 degrees in either direction and has a full sliding function.

A 360-degree pedestrian detection camera feature gives the operator a real-time view in every direction. The driver also has a 3.3- by 3.3-foot (1- by 1-meter) view forward with full visibility of the drum surface and drum spray nozzles, aided in part by the low mounting of the compactor’s corrosion-free water tank.

The CC2200 VI to CC3800 VI lineup has an automatic idling feature to reduce fuel consumption and noise from the rollers’ Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V engines. The machines’ standard ECOMode setting can save up to an additional 20% more diesel fuel. Options for the series include automatic climate control, 255 degrees of seat rotation, biodegradable hydraulic fluid, edge pressers on different positions, a chip spreader setup, and many others.

    Dynapac Technologies

Dynapac’s Seismic system on board the CC2200 VI to CC3800 VI compactors can reduce the number of passes required and save time, fuel, and operating costs. It automatically calculates the best vibration frequency for the material and adjusts as conditions change. The Seismic feature is active on both drums, reducing the necessary vibration power and energy consumption, which translates into less cabin noise and vibration.

The manufacturer’s Dyn@Lyzer compaction control and documentation system is offered as an option. Part compaction optimization tool, part quality control and assurance system, Dyn@Lyzer logs the temperature of the asphalt and the number of passes completed. It also maps the stiffness and the stiffness progress of the compacted layer. Dyn@Lyzer’s open interface supports Topcon, Leica, and Trimble compaction control systems and is available for other third-party tools.

    The New Guy

Details of the new CC2200 VI are scant, but Dynapac’s standard CC2200 has an operating mass of 16,800 pounds (7,620 kilograms) including ROPS and a compaction width of 59 in. Its static linear load is the same in the front and rear at 361 pounds per square inch (25.3 kilograms per centimeter). The CC2200 has 13.2 in. (335 mm) of offset. The compactor can travel at up to 7.5 mph (12 km/h) and has a 42% gradeability rating.
