GOMACO Shows Off New Intelligent Valves & G+ Control System
GOMACO highlighted some new paving technologies at the World of Concrete 2022 show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Using a GP3 slipform paver and other models, the manufacturer showcased its new self-programming valves, a new communication system between GOMACO machines in a paving train, and more.
Valve & Vibrator Controls
The GP3 paver at the show featured GOMACO’s new, self-programming valves, as did Xtreme GT-3600 and GT-3200 models. The manufacturer is building the intelligent valves into its entire family of curb and gutter machines.
The new self-programming valves work with GOMACO’s G+ control system software to automatically correct the paver’s elevation, steering, pivoting, travel control, traction control, and more. The operator can fine-tune the sensitivity of the valves from any display at any time. The new valves also obviate the need to set thresholds.
Also new is a vibrator monitoring system that can control and monitor individual vibrator units. A touchscreen display indicates where adjustments need to be made, allowing the operator to make immediate changes to each vibrator’s performance.
Machine-To-Machine Communication
An optional touchscreen combines monitoring and control of G+ paver accessories and GOMACO’s Navigator display software. Newly Wi-Fi capable, the display can communicate with others on the paver so that the operator can control the machine from any screen. There is also a wireless extension for workers on the ground to see and adjust the paver’s performance. Ground personnel can also use any tablet or phone to configure settings for the GSI, side bar inserters, tie bar inserters, and power transition adjuster.
The Navigator display and G+ system also make possible Machine-to-Machine communication between GOMACO units on the jobsite. For instance, a GP3 paver can tell the placer/spreader ahead of it to raise its strike-off if the concrete being placed is too low.
The GOMACO GP3
Available as a two- or four-track machine, the GOMACO GP3 paver can slipform up to 30 feet (9.14 meters) wide. It has a dual-telescoping design that provides up to 14 ft (4.26 m) of automatic frame widening. Its G+ control system is controllable via stringline or 3D guidance, and it offers five steering modes. Special sensors in its hydraulic cylinders, slew drives, and pivots give the GP3 a high degree of precision in its movements and settings.
