Read More (About GOMACO)GOMACO (short for Godbersen Manufacturing Company) manufactures a complete lineup of concrete construction equipment that’s used throughout the world to help produce airport runways, canals, highways, recreational trails, safety barriers, and other infrastructure-related projects. Based in Ida Grove, Iowa, and supported by an international distribution network, GOMACO operates manufacturing facilities, corporate offices, training facilities, and a parts supply operation in Ida Grove, as well as the GOMACO University Paving Center. GOMACO also owns the GOMACO Trolley Company, maker of authentic vintage trolley cars, and the BOBALEE Hydraulics subsidiary founded in 1975. Another related company, GEC (or the Godbersen Equipment Company), buys and sells used GOMACO equipment, parts, components, and insert molds, plus performs repairs and refurbishments.
GOMACO claims to be the world’s preferred choice for slipform paving, curb and gutter paving, and bridge deck and flat slab finishing products. In addition to wheel and track Commander multi-purpose machines and GT and Curb Cadet curb and gutter machines, the manufacturer offers the GP and other slipform paver models; PS, RTP, RC Conveyor, and Rock Hopper placer/spreaders; and trimmer/placer machines. GOMACO also produces T/C texture/cure machines, and C, CF, Hawkeye, and other cylinder finisher models. GOMACO concrete support equipment includes GOMACO Remote Diagnostics, stringless technology, and the G+ Remote Control system. Newer product examples include the Navigator software and optional ground-level touchscreen display, a revamped Curb Cadet compact curb machine, and a “first of its kind” GP360 slipform paver and placer/spreader.
GOMACO’s origins date to 1941 when Harold Godbersen helped launch the Godbersen-Smith Construction Company, reportedly started based on a single home-building project in Ida Grove. Harold’s son, Gary Godbersen, later started his own Minnesota-based construction company after attending college, and the father and son actually competed for various projects. Eventually, the duo collaborated on the design of new slipform technology, and permanently combined forces to develop other machines to improve the efficiency of concrete laying. Under Gary’s influence, GOMACO began distributing its pavers, finishers, curb and gutter machines, and other products internationally, adapting the machines for different markets’ needs.
PavingEquipment.com is the paving industry’s leading source for GOMACO paving equipment, including concrete pavers and track curb and gutter machines for sale.
